Create An Enchanting Garden Via A Flowering Weeping Cherry Tree

Defined Tag:

Cherry trees, long the Holy Grail of many gardeners and horticulturists given their rich and magical pedigree, come in many varieties. These fantastic plants bloom the most colorful flowers come spring... and in Japan, where they are hailed as mystical icons, festivals are held to honor the cherry trees in full bloom. To a certain degree, the custom is observed in the west. In some territories where cherry trees grow in abundance and at a healthy pace, festivals are likewise held to commemorate what many people believe is the most beautiful season of the year.

One of the most desired types of cherry trees is the flowering weeping cherry tree. Extraordinary for the shape it takes, gardeners, horticulturists and landscape artists find many possible uses for this kind of cherry tree. True to its name, the flowering weeping cherry tree has its branches falling downwards while supporting its leaves and radiant pink flowers, creating a melancholic effect from which it derived its name: a tree that weeps.

Such a shape makes the flowering weeping cherry tree perfect for establishing the mood of a garden's theme. Gardens that aim for the mythical, enchanting and surreal effect, for example, will be able to establish such an illusion with some of these trees planted in its corners.

The flowering weeping cherry tree is a highly deciduous tree type, however. And because its leaves will be closer to the ground, they'd be more susceptible to environmental factors that will cause the leaves to fall at a faster and more prevalent pace. If you wish to grow one of these lovely trees in your backyard, you'd have to commit yourself to regular maintenance of your lawn.

This kind of cherry tree is also picky when it comes to soil conditions. It prefers slightly acidic soil that has low water retention properties. Over-watering is something that is quite unhealthy for cherry trees in general.

Also, this type of cherry tree can potentially grow uncontrollably. In four years, you'll be surprised at how fast your sapling would have developed. Training the cherry tree is a must. Otherwise, its branches will shoot off to different directions.

Additionally, pruning is also a requirement for the proper maintenance of this tree type. Make sure that the branches don't hit the ground, and that the same do not grow to the extent that they will encroach on other plants in the vicinity, or on each other.

Q: I am having issues with my fruit trees. I have two peach trees. The previous two years, both produced peaches, however on one tree the fruit ripened, but it never did on the other one. This year, both trees yielded very little fruit, and neither ripened. The plum trees did not produce any fruit, and the apple trees produced very little fruit. The pear did very well. All these trees are ...
